In simplest system, when a patient presses the button for nurse, there is a buzz and light comes up outside the door of that patient's room. Attending nurse the switches off that light.

It is important to ensure that the patients are being responded properly. The software for the nurse call system should record the events in a database. It should be possible to extract the information as to what was the response time by the nurse.

Too many calls for nurses may indicate that the patients are not being looked after well and the patients have to call the nurses often to get the attention. If takes too long for nurses to respond would indicate that the nurses are either overloaded or they are ignoring the calls by patients.

What is the system in your hospital?
